Update #6

April 2nd, 2018 -

March 28th marked one official year since Anna was discharged from the hospital and she began dialysis on an outpatient basis. There are days that it's hard to remember life before and yet other moments when we still can't believe this is our life.

Since our last update we've certainly had some excitement. Anna's Make a Wish to New York City in January was truly a dream come true. Just as their mission states, the wish allowed Anna to have experiences we never could have provided. It allowed her a break from the reality of being ill and to have a week full of fun and excitement. In case you missed it, click on this link to see the coverage of the experience! -  Today Show

In January we had a bit of a setback when Anna's team determined further testing was needed in order to move forward with the transplant process. Luckily Anna was cleared for transplant a month later with the next hurdle being coordinating a date with her surgeon and Northwestern.

Unexpectedly Anna's transplant coordinator called us back within a week with April 9th being available!!!

As you can imagine the last several weeks have been a whirlwind of doctor appointments, school meetings, etc. With all the excitement there is obviously lots of nervousness and apprehension. Anna's Uncle Dave arrived last week to take part in a full day of appointments at Northwestern. We now just count down the days with lots of positive thoughts and excessive handwashing:)

Many thanks for the optimistic vibes being sent our way - Beth, Doug, Anna & Sloane
